This is a great webiste for persons with disabilities who want to do vocational training. The mission of this site is to promote educational excellence for persons with disabilities, also making sure that persons with disabilites have the same rights as a person without disabilities.

This is a site desgined for persons with disabilities, to go out into the "real world" and be able to live thier life. They offer a wide range of different services such as:

  • Special Education: To serve students with special needs.

  • Independent living: For persons with disabilities of ALL ages.

Future Planning for Parents of a Child with a Disability.

This is a GREAT website for parents who have a child with a disabiliity. It goes over future plans with parents, on how to deal with children with disabilities. Some of the issues on this site pertains to are:

Self-Advocacy Training for High School Students with Disabilities: A Literature Review

This is a very brief overview on how students with disabilities can become self- advocates for themselves. Self-advocacy is a term that is often linked to other related concepts such as self-determination, selfesteem, empowerment, and consumerism. Self-advocacy is a important skill for persons with disabilities to obtain, in order to be successful later on in life.

A Self-Advocacy Plan for High School Students with Learning Disabilities

This is a qualitative study exam perceived effects of a self-advocacy plan for students with learning disabilities (LD) in a 4-year comprehensive high school. This study was desgined based on the information given by the processing theory. The students were in 9th and 10th grade. The study suggests that a Self-Advocacy Plan is a very effective program, which increases students' awareness of vocational and academic services to which they qualify for.

Students With Disabilities in Postsecondary Education:A Profile of Preparation, Participation, and Outcomes.

This site is mainly a Statistical Analysis Report. It shows the different ways in which persons with disabilities are in postsecondary education. It is based on an analysis of four
different surveys conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics. By reading the statistical analysis report I learned a lot of informative information.

Preparing High School Students with Learning Disabilities for the Transition to Postsecondary Education

This is just really a neat little article for students who have a learning disabilities, and want to futher thier education after highschool. The article talks about how the students are looking to postsecondary education and training to help them achieve success in career development and eventual job placement. However, the article does talk about how some of the students are having a hard time in the postsecondary programs.

For many students they think about what thier life is going to be like after graduation.. IE going to college, earning a higher edcuation, or maybe even starting there own business. Persons with specail needs may not think of higher education. Maybe a highschool diploma is good enough for them. Well, guess what?? Persons with disabilities have the same rights to attend college and conutine there education just as someone without disabilties. It is proven that persons with disabilties are planning to continue their education in postsecondary schools.
